
New visitor center 1
The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, located in the Kansas Flint Hills, opened its new $6 million visitor center in 2012. The visitor center has interpretive displays along with education and office facilities. The low-profile visitor center with its grassed over roof was designed to be visually unobtrusive on the prairie landscape and to architecturally mesh with nearby historic buildings through the use similar stonework.
